Without permission to broadcast advertising,
Radio Active was reliant on the knowledge and
dedication of its volunteers to keep the station
on air.
One enterprising solution was the Active Disco
- a travelling DJ for hire, armed with speakers,
turntables, and crates of the best alternative
music of the day.
As well as invading the AM airwaves, Active
was - and not without some protest - also
pumped into the University Cafeteria, replacing
the worn out background music with the latest
tunes.
