2010’s
88.6FM: JUST A JUMP TO THE LEFT
In 2010, the New Zealand radio spectrum was shifted to better suit the growing number
of FM radio stations around the country - and after 28 years at 89FM, Radio Active was
reassigned to 88.6FM.
We also took the opportunity to better connect with our global audience, changing our
branding, and on-air persona to RadioActive.FM. We’d been streaming online since
‘96, and by 2010 had amassed quite an online audience, with listeners on the other side
of the world heading off to bed to the sounds of our Breakfast Show, and waking up to
Friday Night Flava.
It was also time for a change of scenery, (owing partly to some rather rowdy “keg Fri-
days”), so we hauled the furniture just around the corner to 75 Ghuznee Street.
